Update: Well the tour was packed, definitely a good sign. There was even an appearance by NC State House representative Ty Harrell. We were able to try both beers, as described above. The porter was excellent, good creamy mouthfeel, and nice dark chocolate and coffee flavors. Shotgun Betty was a bit sweet for my tastes, but it will surely be a popular selection at local watering holes. Keg prices were very reasonable, at $124 for a 1/2 bbl and I believe $52 for a 1/6 bbl. They are brewing on a 15 bbl system and said they were going to try and start bottling within 6-8 months.
For those who have found an enjoyment for the taste of Shotgun Betty, LoneRider Brewing Company will be a presenting sponsor for a 5K Turkey Trot and Tailgate Party on Saturday November 28 in Cary. Additonal event info and online registration info can be found at Active.com (http://www.active.com/event_detail.cfm?event_id=1802409).
