Lone Rider Brewery - Raleigh

The first tour of this new Raleigh Brewery is tonight, Friday, Jan. 23 from 6 pm till 8pm. We are looking forward to seeing what they have to offer. Seems that their hefeweizen, dubbed Shotgun Betty is going to be their first regular release. I've heard that they also have a seasonal Robust Porter. Hopefully they will be a great addition to the ever-growing Raleigh beer scene.

Update:  Well the tour was packed, definitely a good sign.  There was even an appearance by NC State House representative Ty Harrell.  We were able to try both beers, as described above.  The porter was excellent, good creamy mouthfeel, and nice dark chocolate and coffee flavors.  Shotgun Betty was a bit sweet for my tastes, but it will surely be a popular selection at local watering holes.  Keg prices were very reasonable, at $124 for a 1/2 bbl and I believe $52 for a 1/6 bbl.  They are brewing on a 15 bbl system and said they were going to try and start bottling within 6-8 months.
